2014 Wellington Comedy Awards

I should have posted this ages ago. Totally forgot. My bad. I’m busy, okay?

The Wellington Comedy Awards happened again at the end of last year (seriously, why did I take so long?), and this time with the first ever actual Awards Ceremony night. That’s kind of a big deal.

And I hosted it. Because I’m awesome. I dressed up in a suit and everything. I was beautiful. You should’ve seen it. You would’ve wept.

Here are the people who took home the various accolades for 2014:

Best Newcomer – Daniel John Smith
Most Improved – Patch Lambert
Best Off-Stager – Hilaire Carmody
Best Show – The Medicine (Rob Harris & Nik Bruce-Smith)
Best Show Concept – Tag Team Comedy (Brad Zimmerman)
Best MC – James Jobe
Best Comedian – Ricky Threlfo

A huge congratulations goes out to all of the winners! Including me. I’m patting myself on the back. It feels good.

Wellington comedy is BLOWING UP right now, by the way. It’s seriously off the hook. I’m writing this on Saturday 14th March 2015, and there are (I think) seven comedy shows happening as I type. That’s mental.

We’ve just had the grand opening of VK’s, Wellington’s first EVER comedy club. A bar owned and operated by comedians, for comedians.
