First of all, I don’t know which ‘Nation’ is referred to in the name of this initiative. NaNoWriMo is a global phenomenon, in which aspiring writers hammer out an entire novel (50k words or more) during the month of November.
It’s a big scary monster of a thing. And this year I’m going for it.
“You’re doing what, Brad?”
“I’m writing an entire novel in a month. Thank you for making me reiterate what I just said.”
“No problem. Hey, are you doing anything later?”
“Oh no reason. Just thought you might like to hang. Watch a DVD or something. The house just feels so empty since Linda left. I could use the company.”
“That’s your problem, dude. I’ve got a novel to plan.”
Okay, that was fun. I just shut down an imaginary person, who clearly needed my imaginary help. Anyway, I just thought I’d let you know I was embarking on an insane journey.
If you feel like a challenge (a fun challenge, that is), you should check out NaNoWriMo. You might like it. You might love it. You might try to run away and marry it, but you can’t.
Can you write (or at least attempt to write) a 50k word novel in a month? Find out. Sign up to nanowrimo.org and get cracking!
And yes, I’m a dork.
